Handwara, March 01(KNB): Two militants were killed in an ongoing encounter that broke out in Babagund village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.
As per the reports, a five-hour long searches were conducted by the contingents of the army’s 22 RR, 92 battalion CRPF and SOG at Khanu Babagund hamlet of Langate.The encounter started around 1:00 am after forces fired some warning shots towards suspected spot.
Two militants were killed in the nocturnal gunfight whose bodies were recovered from the spot on Friday morning, while identification is yet ascertained.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted near the gunfight site, the forces fired pellets to disperse the protesting youths, three persons received pellet injuries and were shifted to District Hospital Handwara.
The authorities have suspended the mobile internet services in the area.(KNB)
