A gunfight has erupted at Manigah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district between militants and forces on Friday exchanging a heavy fire, police said.
According to media reports SSP Kupwara Aijaz Bhat said, “the encounter starts at Chor Nard area in Haji Naka region of Manigah at around 8:30 am today.
Meanwhile militants had killed army officer on Nov 14 before giving the forces a slip.
“A heavy exchange of fire is going on since today morning between the militants and joint teams of army and SOG,” said an official.
He said that additional reinforcements are being deployed in the area to prevent the militants from escaping.
