Global Handwashing Day (GHD) was on Thursday observed at Tangdar to create awareness among the general public regarding the importance of hand wash in daily life.
The program was organised by BDO Tangdar.
During the awareness programme, the school students and other young children were explained about the benefits of hand washing and were urged to continue the practice, before every meal and after using the toilet, so that it inculcates a habit of hygiene and cleanliness.
BDO Tangdar Dr Bashir Lone said the awareness camps were organised in which school children, Anganwari workers, Panchs, Sarpanchs and others participated. Demonstration of hand washes was also conducted.
Similar programmes were also held in Baramulla where local MLA, Javeed Hassan Beigh highlighted the need of cleanliness.
In Pulwama, a programme was organised at Government Degree College Pulwama where various officials and students spoke on importance of hygiene.
Similarly, an event was held at Government Secondary School Balhama. A symposium and road show was also organised by BDO Khanmoh.
