Four LeT Militants Involved in Nowgam Attack Says IGP Vijay Kumar

Srinagar 1 April (KNB): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar on Thursday said that the attack on BJP leader Anwar Khan’s residence was carried by four Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants.

Vijay Kumar said on the sidelines of the wreath-laying ceremony of Rameez Raja, who died in the Nowgam militant attack, that the four LeT militants were involved in the attack.

He said that after checking CCTV footage, one of the militants wearing a burqa had knocked on the door and fire was opened on the door’s opening by two other militants.

He further said that the fourth militant, after the firing of two militants, came and took the rifle away with him.

Kumar said that the burqa donned militant had assumed the voice of a woman to delude the guard on duty.

However, the identification of two of the four militants has been revealed as Shahid Khursheed and Ubaid Shafi, both belonging to the LeT outfit. While the other two’s identity is being verified, Kumar said. (KNB)
