SRINAGAR 04 April (KNB) :Four local militants were killed on Saturday in an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Gori area of khul Batpora, in Damhall belt of south Kashmir’s Kulgam, following information about the presence of militants there, an Army official to KNB
He said as the forces were conducting searches, the hiding militants fired upon them.
The security forces retaliated, the official said, adding four militants were killed in the gunbattle.
A Police spokesman identified them as Aijaz Ahmad Naikoo of Chimmer Kulgam, Shahid Ahmad Malik of Khull Dhora Kulgam, Waqar Farooq of Hcgam Kulgam, Ashraf Malik of Arwani Anantnag.
While Aijaz Ahmed Naikoo had joined militant ranks in 2018, the other three had joined in year 2019, 2020. He added
Sources said they were affiliated to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
However, in this regard police has registered FIR under section 32/2020 U/S 307IPC 7/25 IAACT in police station DHpora. (KNB)
