Kupwara Saturday, 12 April : Today, District teachers Forum Kupwara staged a protest in DC office demanding stern action against a youth who allegedly harassed and abused the officials working in ZEO’s office of Trehgam zone yesterday.
As per reports, a youth namely Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Kaawari, Laderwan Kupwara intrude into the office premises and thrashed a few officials there. An ex-ikhwani, now a contractor by profession had actually came to visit Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) trehgam in connection with a contract of construction of a bathroom in a nearby school but resorted to abusive language against the staff members, Aijaz Ahmad and Attiqah Begum (senior assistants). Worthy to mention that the said ZEO was on an official visit to Srinagar when this incident took place.
“It is very disappointing, my co-workers were thrashed and abused, he (Zahoor Ahmad) has got links with Army Forces and now we feel completely insecure”, Mumtaz Ahmad, ZEO Trehgam told KS during the protest. “As I was on official visit, the notorious ex-Ikhwani called me over phone, threatened me and abused me for no solid reasons. Now, we want authorities to take stern action against him at the earliest and the failure of it could trigger more protests by Teachers Forum from Tuesday”, he further added.
However, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara assured TF to take immediate action against the accused.
