Handwara  January 19

After the entry of a prominent figure Dr Nawab Nasir in mainstream politics in this north kashmir’s township, the battle for assembly elections in the town has turned more tough and went triangular.

The battle field in this assembly constituency will be an interesting one as prominent figures may fight from Handwara constituency including two former ministers , PC chairman Sajad Lone and Dr Nawab Nasir of Engineer Rashid’s Awami Ithihaad Party.

Though Handwara is considered to be hot seat and with the entry of Nawab in the fray, the contest has turned tough as Nawab is going to give a tough time to other contestants.

Just after his entry into AIP, Nawab has addressed numerous massive gathering in the town which has shaken the empires of the contesting candidates who too have felt the wave against them.

“People have witnessed the performance of two ministers –Sofi Ghulam Mohiudin and Chowdary Mohammad Ramzan- but Handwara continue to suffer despite having two ministers in the past,” said Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of far flung Harpora Zechaldara area. “Now on what moral grounds they will demand votes. People are fed up with them,” he added.

On Friday when AIP leader Dr Nawab Nasir held a party meeting in town hall of the town, the response was unexpected. As hundreds of people turned up, the AIP leader had to come out of the hall and was forced to hold the meeting in a nearby ground as the hall could not adjust all the people. A public meeting turned into a rally.

While speaking on the occasion DR Nawab Nasir Aman Stated – “We as AIP would usher in a new era of political dynamism and honest polity in the state so as to change the bleak scenario towards betterment. We would by the effective cooperation of people dislodge the traditional rotten political forces that have only resorted to corrupt tactics.”

Nawab urged the people to learn a lesson from the people of Delhi who completely rejected the traditional politics which was based on mere promises. “You (Public) have power and this time take opportunity to teach these politicians a lesson who vanish in the thin air after getting votes from the public and never bother to return back to their place,” he added.

Pertinently, having flair for activism, reading, writing, irresistible urge for changing the scenario of Handwara towards betterment, Dr Nasir Nawab so grew conscious of the need for entering into politics and has since addressed series of impressive gatherings in Handwara.

In a big political development recently in the area, Dr Nawab Nasir Aman from Handwara along with his workers joined Awami Ittihaad Party led by the charismatic persona of Engineer Rashid. His joining the AIP is expected to further add to the strength and charm of AIP.
