End Of An Era: J&K CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Dies After Brief illness.

The 79 Year old Politician founded PDP in 1999, served India as First Muslim  Home Minister and was Presently  Chief Minister of J&K

Srinagar 7th January 2015 :

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Founder of Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away this morning after a brief illness.

He was airlifted from Srinagar on December 24 and admitted to AIIMS, continued to be in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

Mr. Sayeed, who took over as Chief Minister of PDP-BJP coalition on March last year, was admitted after he had complained of exhaustion due to fever and neck pain and during the course of his medical investigation, the AIIMS doctors diagnosed him of having “decreased blood counts, pneumonia and sepsis”.

Mr. Sayeed was on high dosage of antibiotics for treatment of infection and oxygen to provide relief to lungs.

Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was born on January 12, 1936 at bijbehara in the sate of Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Sayeed became a state minister in the Congress Party government in 1971 But the success was followed by a string of defeats – he lost the next two elections.But bounced back and in 1989 became India’s first Muslim home minister.

Following a coalition agreement between the BJP and the PDP, On March 1st 2015, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was sworn in as the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister for the second time
