Srinagar, June 12(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor and Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology (SKUAST) today has appointed Dr J P Sharma presently joint Director ICAR as Vice-Chancellor(VC) of Jammu (SKUAST) university for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 65.
The order issued by Lt. Governor’s Secretariat read as, ” In exercise of powers vested in me under section 25(1) of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology Act, 1982, I Giresh Chandra Murmu hereby appoint Dr J P Sharma presently joint Director (Ext) ICAR, New Delhi as Vice Checellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, with effect from the date on which he takes over charge, on the terms and conditions which are being notified separately.”
Dr. J.P. Sharma is working as Joint Director, Extension, and Director, Centre for Advance Faculty Training (Extension) Agricultural Research Institute (Pusa), New Delhi having a a vast experience of over 26 years conducting strategic research, guiding, teaching post graduate students, conducting national/international training programmes and carrying out rural Development activities in the farmers’ field.
Pertinently, SKUAST Jammu was without a regular Vice- Chancellor since March 2019, Dr R K Gupta, Director Research SKUAST Jammu, took the charge of Vice-Chancellor in the month of February 2020 over the charge of Vice-Chancellor by Dr K S Risam, who was holding this charge for the last around 10 months since completion of the tenure of Dr Pardeep Sharma as VC.(KNB)
