Beginning at Banur (near Chandigarh, the City Beautiful), in 2007, Dr IT Group of Institutes has come a long way and has now self-set standards that compare favourably with world standards in education, consistent innovation and persistent perfection to redefine excellence. The Institute has been established under the umbrela of Shrimati Kaushalya Devi Memorial Charitable and Educational Trust (Registered) that is managed, directed and controlled by Dr. (CA) Man Mohan Kamal Mahajan, a visionary and philanthropist. The entire Mahajan family veers around his exceptional vision and lends him full support in all initiatives.
At the campus, academic atmosphere is highly congenial and conducive to learning. We offer Courses offered at the Banur Campus are: MBA, MCA, PGDCA, BBA, B. Com (Professional), BCA, Bachelor of Management Studies (Airline, Tourism and Hospitality), Plus-1 (Science – Medical & Non-Medical Streams), and 3-Year Diploma Courses in Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer. Our placements are excellent in the region. We have been inviting reputed and blue-chip companies to the campus for placements. We hold ‘Alumni Meet’ every year to interact with the passed out students to collect their experiences in the occupations they are engaged in. The students learn from the Alumni’s experiences that are shared in the Meet. The pedagogy consists of practical work and training, regular industry visits, lectures by outside experts from academia and industry and case studies. This approach in class room management with using latest IT-backed methods of teaching coupled with diverse student-centric activities has paid rich dividends in the form of nearly 100% placements of students and brand equity for the Institute. Our semester results are also excellent (80-100%).
Dr IT Group is engaged in a spectrum of activities with social responsibility never lost sight of. The Group has set up a committee, ‘Naya Savera’ for helping the children of slums and construction workers . Along with this, the Group has been helping the poor and, more particularly the women for imparting them work-related skills for economic self-sufficiency. Since inception in 2007, the Institute has been holding Spardha (competition for college students of the region), Pratispardha (competition for school students of the region) every year, apart from intra-college activities, sports and games, cultural and social activities. Of late, the Institute has been participating for arousing popular sentiments in the surrounding areas about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swatchh Bharat, Skill India and Digital India. Awareness is also created against drugs, dowry practice, corruption, child marriage, etc. These campaigns are undertaken as part of NSS activities. Important World days – Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Women’s Day, Engineer’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Water Day, Earth Day (as Environment Day) – are regularly held. On these days/occasions, informative and educative lectures are arranged and various creative activities are planned in which students take part with zeal and enthusiasm. The Institute has been organising Blood Donation Camp every year. We have started NCC for boys and girls.. Besides, special faculty teams are detailed for visiting schools to spread the awareness and message about entrepreneurship, career planning, and various government programmes for the needy, the poor and the physically challenged persons.
The management takes special care to maintain well-stocked library where leading/national Newspapers are provided; reputed International Magazines/periodicals are subscribed for. Latest matters of topical importance are shared by the faculty in the class rooms and debated regularly. The Institute regularly draws upon the experience and specialised skills of industry-icons and business executives that are invited for interacting with the students and faculty. Education here stands re-defined: the activities are not confined only to the ritualistic annual academic calendar; there are innovative activities included in another ‘activities calendar’ prepared by the institute. Both these are inter-twined to provide holistic education with human values impregnated in it. We plan to start ‘Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre’ in addition to ‘Guidance, Counselling and Placement Centre’ that is already in place, for the benefit of the students.
The Campus of the Group has been functioning under the effective leadership of dynamic and experienced Managing Director, Professor P. Parkash Arya (former Professor of University Business School in Panjab University, Chandigarh), overseen and directed by Mrs. Deepti Batra, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Both the key persons have always kept the national planning, policies and programmes in focus and take initiatives for dovetailing the demands of the continuously evolving complex market (business, industry and services) in the tumultuously emerging global economic and politico-social scenario.
The campus has unique design and landscaping (total ambience), and enviable infrastructure to qualify for joining the exclusive club of elite institutions in the region. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. Various activity clubs are functioning under the supervision of faculty members; students choose to join one or more of them.
Regular brainstorming is done to evolve new methods, activities and approaches to enhance the pragmatic learning and for making students match the industry/business requirements; the lofty aim is kept in focus – identifying and exploiting potential as well as gaining sustaining and innovating leadership in the world economy in every field.
