Srinagar, Feb 23 (KNB): Dr Ghulam Hassan Malik, formerly Head of Department, Nephrology, Sher I Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS),Srinagar and Senior Consultant Nephrologist of the Kashmir valley was conferred life time achievement award by Indian Society of Nephrology-North Zone, in its annual conference 2018 held at Jaipur from 16th to 18th February.
The award is bestowed on Nephrologists who have distinctively contributed to the specialty and played an active role in the development of Indian Society of Nephrology. In addition to him two other Nephrologists were also conferred the same award who are Dr S C Tiwardi former Head, Department of Nephrology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)and Dr Vivekanand Jha former Professor, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. It is also pertinent to mention that Dr Malik was also awarded “Dronacharya award” in the year 2016 in recognition of his lifetime contributions to enhance Nephrology by Delhi Nephrology
Society and Association of Vascular & Interventional Renal Physicians(AVATAR).
Dr Malik did his DM in Nephrology from PGIMER, Chandigarh and established the department of Nephrology at SKIMS Soura, Srinagar way back in 1980’s and is presently running his own Nephrology Out Patient Department (OPD) clinic.
Dr Malik has numerous publications in National and International journals to his credit and has also written chapters in many Medical books. While receiving this prestigious award he thanked the Jury,Nephrology society and his patients.
