President Doctors Association Kashmir(DAK) Dr G M Mir while reacting to a recent press report on outreach programme by SKIMS by an English daily appreciated the job done by Surgical Oncology department in which he said that they are doing an excellent and innovative thing by this outreach programme in which specialized services are taken to the door steps of patients.
We appreciate the concern of the correspondents but it’s pertinent to mention here that the cancer patients always have higher morbidity and mortality rate as compared to other patients and can occur even in specialized institutes of India like PGI,Chandigarh or AIIMS,Delhi. It was already demand of doctors that other departments of SKIMS like Cardiology,Neurology,Urology etc should send their doctors on rotational basis through this outreach programme to District Hospitals so that rush at SKIMS is reduced and doctors of District hospital can also increase their skills and patients will get the tertiary care treatment at their door steps.
We appreciate the effort of Director,SKIMS and Director Health services Kashmir in organizing these programmes.
