SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah d d Geelani underwent a colonoscopy at SKIMS Soura Saturday, during which a cyst found in his stomach was removed.
Geelani had been admitted to the institute few days back, as his heamoglobin value had been reducing over the last six months.
A doctor overlooking the medical investigation on the octogenarian leader said that colonoscopy report was “almost normal”.
“The report is almost normal but a cyst has been found in the intestines and that has been removed during the procedure,” he said, adding that the cyst has been sent for histopathology investigation.
The examination report of cyst may reveal the reason for reducing Heamoglobin value, he said.
Geelani is said to be stable, after the colonoscopy procedure which lasted for around 44 minutes.
“He is alright, in his senses,” the doctor said and hoped that he may be discharged from the hospital on Sunday.
Sources in the Hurriyat Conference said that both sons of Geelani, his eldest son-in-law and a member of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat accompanied Geelani in the hospital.
They added that many people including Imam-i-Hai of Jamia Masjid Srinagar came to see ailing Geelani today.
