Srinagar, Oct 26 : Chief Secretary B B Vyas who was set to retire on November 30 this year has been given three months extension and he will continue as chief secretary of the state.
Government of India’s Department of Personnel and Trainings (DoPT) cleared the proposal sent by the State Government for six-month extension of Vyas.
Official sources said that the centre has given initial extension for three years and will be extended for three more months in the next meeting of the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Vyas was appointed chief secretary by the government in April this year. He was to retire on superannuation on 30 November.
Vyas is a 1986 batch IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, who was appointed as Chief Secretary on April 28 this year in place of BR Sharma.
He has held several prestigious posts in the State including Principal Secretary to Governor and Principal Secretary to three chief ministers-Omar Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti. (KNS)
