CRPF man injured in Mattan grenade blast, LeT owns Qazigund attack

Srinagar, September 04:  Hours after militants hurled grenade at Qazigund which left three paramilitary men injured, suspected militants this evening targeted Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker at Mattan area of Anantnag district with another grenade which resulted in injuries to one personnel, official sources said Monday.

The sources told GNS that militants lobbed a grenade


on the camp of 96 Battalion CRPF at Mattan.The grenade explosion left one CRPF trooper identified as Chaman Lal injured, they said, adding that he was removed to hospital. “He has received minor splinter injuries,” the sources added.

Meanwhile, CRPF Kashmir spokesman when contacted by GNS confirmed the grenade attack on its camp at Mattan. However  with regard to injury, he said: “I’ll contact my Officer Commanding and get back to you.” After the incident, government forces launched a search operation to nab the attackers in the area.

No militant outfit so far took responsibility for Mattan attack. Meanwhile, militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba has claimed responsibility for Qazigund attack earlier in the day. The LeT spokesman Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi said in a statement issued to news agency GNS that militants of Lashkar carried out the attack.(GNS)
