Srinagar, Apr 25,: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday termed the 2nd Covid wave as ‘toofan’ and said that that this ‘toofan’ has shaken the country. He however added that India will emerge victorious and like the first wave, will defeat the 2nd wave as well.
The Prime Minister said that India was full of self-confidence after successfully tackling first wave of Covid-19, and eventually it will get over the 2nd wave as well. “The resolve and patience of the people will help us in defeating this Corona. Our first priority this time is to defeat Corona,” he said.
Modi as per news agency Kashmir News Trust talked about multiple aspects of Covid-19 and lauded the role of frontline health workers. He also praised the States for working in a concerted way to combat the lethal 2nd wave.
While urging the states and union territories to carry forward the Centre’s programme of free vaccinations, Modi said that the Centre has provided vaccinations to all for free inoculations.
“Centre has provided free vaccinations for all those above the age of 45 years,” he said adding that vaccination programme will be open to all those above the age of 18 years from May 1st.
Modi said that the present Covid-19 surge is testing the patience and resolve of Indians who have always stood tall and emerge victorious. KNT
