Covid 19 Pandemic: Roads Sealed, security tightened in Kashmir

Srinagar 24 April (KNB): Authorities on Friday imposed strict restrictions on the movement of public in Kashmir to contain the spread of the deadly covid 19 after the reports of violation of rules.
According to Kashmir News bureau, a senior official said, “To contain the spread of the coronavirus in Kashmir Valley the authorities have decided to strict the lockdown.” “Nobody will be allowed to move from one place to another without a proper curfew pass issued from an authorised officer, he further said.
Ahead of Ramzan, on the directions of the government, forces have sealed the national highway including the main roads and erected barriers at entry and exit points to check the movement and to stop the gathering of people in the Valley, said an official.
“All the essential services including healthcare are allowed to move with a proper pass.”He said.

Meanwhile, The clerics had asked the people to offer prayers at home and avoid the mosques in the month of ramzan. However, this is the first time in the history that all musims have to offer nimaz inside their home to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
Pertaintely, the authorities have appealed to the people of Kashmir Valley to maintain the social distancing and offer nimaz inside their home in the month of Ramzan.
On 19 March, authorities decided to lockdown the Kashmir valley after the first positive case of Khanyar woman was detected who was returned from the saudi Arab after performing Umrah. Only pharmacies and groceries were allowed to open across the valley.
A total of 20 fresh cases of Covid-19 positive were detected in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. With the spike, the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has gone up to 434. Out of 434, five deaths have been reported and around 71 recovered. (KNB)
