Centre hails Rahim Rather’s services

‘His efforts brought Centre, States close to GST regime’

Srinagar, Apr 24: In the meeting of the governing body of the empowered committee of the state finance ministers held on March 20, this year, the union finance minister who was chairing the meet remarked that the former finance minister of J&K Abdul Rahim Rather has done ‘commendable job’ as chairman empower committee of state finance ministers.

Reports informed Kashmir Scenario the resolution was passed by the governing body of the empowering committee wherein Rather was hailed for his services as the chairman empower committee of state finance ministers.
The resolution, a copy of which lies with TKS, reads: “ The Governing Body of the empowered committee of the state finance ministers places on record its sincerest thanks and deep appreciation to Abdul Rahim Rather, former chairman empower committee of state finance ministers for his commendable devotion and contribution as chairman empowered committee. His skills and tireless efforts in achieving consensus with regard to various contentious GST issues have been instrumental in bringing the centre and the states close to the objective of moving to the GST regime by 1st April 2016.”

The resolution was duly signed by Satish Chandra, former secretary to government of India and a present member secretary.
