Bukhari visits Mehjoor Nagar fire affected family

Asks administration to keep a fire tender available in the locality




Srinagar, Feb 16 : Former minister and MLA Amirakadal Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday visited Mehjoor Nagar to meet the fire affected family that lost one of its members in a devastating blaze on Tuesday.Expressing deep shock and grief on the demise of Roshni Kour daughter of Sardar Darshan Singh, a young girl, who died in the fire incident Bukhari extended heartfelt condolences and solidarity with her bereaved family. “I stand in solidarity with your entire family in this hour of grief,” Bukhari said while praying for an eternal peace to the departed soul.

In a statement issued to KNS, He said that the tragedy has created a fathomless void in the fire affected family which is not easy to be bridged. Bukhari assured all possible help to the fire hit family in its immediate rehabilitation. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and other officers accompanied Bukhari during his visit.

The former minister asked the deputy commissioner Srinagar to explore all possibilities of establishing a permanent fire extinguishing station at Mehjoor Nagar and till then a fire tender be stationed in the locality to prevent any eventuality of such mishaps in future.

The former minister said that Mehjoor Nagar is not only congested but in past also due to its narrow lanes and by-lanes the fire department has faced immense difficulties in controlling such catastrophic blazes. “In order to mitigate these sufferings permanently and to prevent such menacing tragedies in future such areas are in dire need of having permanent fire extinguishing stations,” he observed.




Bukhari also urged the authorities to facilitate immediate issuance of permissions for reconstruction of the residential house that got gutted in the fire incident. (KNS)
