Dressed up in a traditional glittering bridal attire and ready for ‘jaimaal’ ceremony, Shruti (name changed) walks away from Mandap (wedding venue) the groom was sent home, alone!
On April 28, a girl in Mahoba district astonishingly ran away refusing to marry her drunkard groom, just ahead of the wedding.
Shruti was to marry, a native of Ragauli village, Arvind, who had to return home in embarrassment. Shruti made the bold move when Arvind started quarelling with her siblings and other guests over DJ music.
On seeing the groom along with his other friends making ruction on the wedding, villagers also supported Shruti convincing her parents not to force her into the wedding.
Sources informed that Shruti got full support from her parents and backed from her siblings too, she took the stern stand.
Shruti’s father said that on seeing the man drunk, she refused to marry him and he didn’t force her to marry against her wishes.
Shruti’s friend said that the ceremony was looking like a party of drunkards and Shruti could not resist the abusive words from her drunkard would-be and thus decided not to marry her.
Family members of the groom had approached the police but were asked not to pursue the case.
Earlier a bride of Kanpur splashed over newspapers and social media for calling off her wedding when she realised that her would-be husband could not solve a simple maths problem. The groom’s parents had tried to persuade her but the bride had stayed stubborn.
