Body of Missing TA Soldier Recovered in Anantnag Forests

Srinagar, October 9 (KNB): The body of Territorial Army soldier Hilal Ahmad Bhat, who went missing on Tuesday evening, has been recovered from the Kokernag forest area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A joint search operation was launched by police and army after Bhat’s disappearance. “A massive search operation was initiated this morning, and during the searches, the soldier’s body was recovered,” official said.

The officer added that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Bhat’s death and disappearance. Bhat, a resident of Mukhdampora Nowgam Anantnag, was identified as the deceased soldier.

Earlier, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army tweeted, “A joint counter-terrorist operation was launched in Kazwan Forest, Kokernag, based on intelligence inputs. The operation continued overnight as a Territorial Army soldier went missing. A massive rescue and search operation is in progress.”

The search operation involved the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other agencies. Further details are awaited.(KNB)
