161infantry Battalion Territorial Army (Home and Hearth) Jammu and kashmir Light Infantry is a unique battalion of soldiers who are “sons of the soil”.This battalion in association with Government Medical college srinagar and it’s associated Hospitals (Government Lala Ded,SMHS,Bone and joint hospitals), organized a blood donation campaign as part of its enduring commitment towards supporting the society.As soldiers and citizens we feel for our people who have suffered a devastating blow at the hands of nature and feel from our heart to come forward to assist the AWAM in all possible ways.
The camp was inaugurated by Brig MR Mutatkar, Deputy General officer Commanding 19 infantry Division. Speaking on the occasion he said “The effort is expected to encourage our army personnel, who have shown extreme enthusiasm to donate blood,to heighten their responsibilities as good citizens and to be active participants in the local community and participate in activities especially those of humanitarian and social nature”.
Underlining the importance of blood donation, Brig MR Mutatkar appreciated the efforts of the Jammu and kashmir Light Infantry fraternity volunteers who donated blood.The blood donation campaign took place at the premises of 161 infantry Battalion Territorial Army (Home &Hearth)Jammu and kashmir Light Infantry on 23 November 2014.
This is third such camp this year by the Braves of this sons of the soil battalion.Commenting on the occasion,representatives of the local hospital were ecstatic that this large pool of blood donated will go a long way in helping hospitals to meet their requirements of blood to treat needy patients.The response received from the soldiers was overwhelming.The campaign reiterates the commitment of soldiers towards our public.
