Srinagar 29 December (KNB): The PDP-BJP coalition could not work out owing to the PDP turning down the BJP’s agreement which includes not handing over of slain militants’ bodies to their family members for the last rites, and a clampdown on the Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) said Mehbooba Mufti while addressing the party workers and DDC election winners at PDP headquarters in Srinagar.
During the address, Mehbooba said that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed had formed coalition with BJP to address the issues like the holding of dialogues between Hurriyat leaders and Pakistan, opening of historic roads and not tinkering with Article 370.
She further said that the Hurriyat leaders turning their back on the All Parties Delegation (APD) set a bad example across India, adding that the PDP will continue to look for resolving the Kashmir issue via dialogue between India and Pakistan.
Mebooba hailed the party workers, and she said’ “ PDP is workers’ party rather a movement on the ground. I recall what my father used to say about workers. He would always say workers are like his eyes and I believe in the same.” adding that defectors lost in their constituencies while party’s workers stood firmly.
While taking a dig at the BJP, Mehbooba said that BJP is using agencies like NIA, ED and CBI to run the government by terrorising the people. She also said that Waheed Para had turned thousands of youth towards mainstream politics and was despite that put behind bars by the government on the charges of link with militants, which she alluded is incomprehensible as Waheed had brought 6000 youth to former Home Minister of India’s rally in Kashmir.
Mehbooba also showed commitment to fight for the rights and said they are not the ones who would raise white flags. While she also blamed the centre for destroying Kashmir’s economy and defacing the constitution of J&K by article 370’s revocation. (KNB)
