Right-wing BJP legislators Thursday attempted a ‘murderous assault’ on independent legislator Er Rashid and thrashed him severely when Rashid raised the issue if beef ban.
Rashid had organized a ‘beef party’ last evening to gather support for his anti-beef ban bill which is scheduled to come up for discussion today.
TV footage showed MLA Nowshehra Ravindra Raina of the BJP getting up from his seat and attacking Rashid while Opposition members intervened to rescue the latter.
Former chief minister Omar Abdullah condemned the assault on Rashid .
