Srinagar 01 Feb(TKS): Jammu and Kashmir Awami Awaz has termed the acid attack in Eidgah against a 24 year old girl, as “crime against humanity and kashmiriyat.”
Awami Awaz made it clear acid attacks perpetrated against women and girls are used as a means to permanently scar the survivor – they are an extreme form of violence against women and girls. They are used because so much bearing is placed on the physical appearance of women and girls. The criminal element doing such heinous act should face iron hand of law.
Suhail Ahmad Khan Awami Awaz Party Chairman stated :” I am shocked to learn that unidentified Persons have thrown Acid On 24-Year-old Girl in Srinagar. It is heart rending that the girl (name withheld), a resident of Eid Gah came under attack at Usmani Colony Wantpora.”
Irfan Hashmi the Awami Awaz party General Secretary termed the acid attack a crime against human values urging police to act swiftly and calling for introspection. We are learning the girl has been evacuated from the site to SMHS Hospital for treatment and pray to Allah for swift recovery of her.(TKS)
