‘Avoid controversies, focus on developmental issues’

BJP High Command tells party state unit

Srinagar, Aug 22: The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has directed its ministers and MLA in Jammu and Kashmir to sideline the controversial issues rather focus on the developmental issues.
Differences have already emerged between the PDP and BJP with several leaders of ruling parties giving statements against each other over controversial issues.

In a bid to avoid further controversies, sources told KNS that senior BJP leaders have directed its ministers and MLAs not to raise the issue that could create rift between the alliance partners.
Sources said these directions were made after BJP President, Amit Shah held a meeting with BJP Kashmir affairs leaders.

Sources said Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had also raised this issue with the centre after which the BJP high command asked its ministers to avoid the controversies.

“Senior BJP leaders told the party ministers to sideline some of the issues that create wedge within the party and also hit the functioning of the coalition government,” sources said.

They said for the smooth functioning of the government, most of the BJP leaders are of the opinion that the controversial issues must be kept at the back back burner.

“The ministers have been told to focus on their work rather than issuing statements,” a BJP leader said. (KNS)
