Attacks on mainstream parties’ retaliation to ransacking of militants’ houses by forces: NC

Srinagar, Oct 22: Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rajpora constituency and Senior National Conference leader Ghulam Mohiudin Mir on Sunday said that the growing attacks on mainstream parties in parts of south Kashmir, especially Tral and Shopian, by militants was retaliation to ransacking of their houses by government forces.

“You have seen that security forces ransacked houses of militants in parts of south Kashmir especially in Tral and Shopian. Kitchen and bathroom ware was damaged by the forces,” Ghulam Mohiudin Mir told news agency GNS.

He said that there was no hand of family, may it be brother, sister, father or mother, in making of a militant.

“Therefore, there is no justification in ransacking of their houses. The action by the government forces has shrunk the political activities of the mainstream parties as militants have now started to retaliate by attacking the houses of mainstream parties being soft targets,” he said, adding “Now you see houses of army soldiers and policemen have also been attacked. It clearly demonstrates that militant action is in retaliation to the ransacking of their houses by forces.”

The NC leader also said that government has completely failed in normalizing the situation and “it actually deteriorates with every passing day.”

“In fact whatever it has done it has only brought miseries for people”, he said, adding, “The ruling PDP government has even failed to provide security to its workers and MLAs. In such a scenario, you can imagine the condition of opposition mainstream,” he said. (GNS)
