Anantnag, Sep 13(KNB): Army and J&K Police officers sustained injuries during an ongoing encounter that erupted in the Gadool hamlet of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, as confirmed by police.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area, a coordinated operation was launched by a joint team comprising the Police, Army, and CRPF to establish a cordon and conduct a search.
As the combined forces closed in on the suspected location, militants opened fire, igniting a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir police Zone took to ‘X’ to provide an update, stating, “Encounter has started in #Kokernag area of #Anantnag. Officers from the Army and JKP have sustained injuries. Details follow”
According to reports, close, it is believed that two to three militants are currently trapped in the area.(KNB)
