Amid high security suspected militants hurled Grenade in Pampore

Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNB): Amid high security in view of the republic day, a grenade hurled by suspected militants in Pampore’s Khrew Chowk on Monday created panic among masses in and around the area.

The grenade exploded in taxi stand caused damage to several vehicles, besides injuring a civilian. The government forces rushed to the spot and cordoned the whole area.




Pertinently, security review meetings are being held on a daily basis this time to take a relook on everything concerned with providing security to Republic Day functions in the state.

This year the main Republic Day parade and flag hoisting function will take place in the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar city a few kilometers away from the Pampore area where grenade blast was reported on Monday.

More than 1,000 security men have been deployed to secure the venue. After the final rehearsal of the parade on Saturday, its overall security will be handed over to the army.

Besides CCTV cameras, electronic access control equipment and human surveillance and supervision, security forces are employing unmanned aerial vehicles, Drones to keep a watch.
All vehicles entering Jammu and Srinagar city are being thoroughly checked to prevent movement of militants. (KNB)
