Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir state government Sunday deputed four ministers to Srinagar to monitor rising water levels in Kashmir valley.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Syed Basharat Bukhari informed the House that Altaf Bukhari, Choudhary Sukhnandan, Imran Ansari and Muhammad Ashraf Mir have left for Srinagar.
Heavy rains have lashed the Kashmir valley since last evening even as the MeT department warned of week-long wet weather in the state.
An official handout in Srinagar said that the ministerial team comprising Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Imran Raza Ansari, Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Asiya Naqash are monitoring the situation on hourly basis at Srinagar.
“Minister for Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar is on way to Srinagar to personally take stock of the situation,” it added.
The Ministerial team along with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and IGP Kashmir have been visiting various flood prone areas to ascertain the situation on ground and the precautionary measures been taken by the Government at Divisional and District level.
“A special control room has been established at Police headquarter Srinagar to monitor the situation. The helpline numbers of the control room are 2452138, 2474040.
Divisional Commissioner has also asked all Deputy Commissioners to remain vigilant and inform people to take all precautions besides establishing control rooms at their respective district headquarter.
