‘Ache Din Nahi Chahiyee, Puraney Din Hi Lotadijiye Mufti Sahab’

“Achay din aanay waalay hain”(good days are yet to come) was the banner under which BJP tied its knots with PDP in Kashmir. Since the PDP-BJP coalition people of the valley await “achay din” (good days) nowhere to be found!

The entire ministerial setup looks messed up in its structure and functioning.  People are now looking for the Puraney Din (olden days)”.

People who are ineligible for the officer posts are occupying top slots in the government sectors while for the eligible and honest officers transfers are the order of the day.

Favoritism overshadows merit

The Agricultural department of the state is an example of favoritism.  Director Agriculture Department, Altaf Andrabi  happens to be a junior member, ineligible for the post but enjoys the top slot because of the strong political back.

On the receiving end of rising corruption, favouritism and the entire disorder stands a vast unaddressed community of people. Neither the MLAs nor the people are satisfied with the functioning and management of government.

Civil Secretariat is no more civil

The civil secretariat of Srinagar seems no more civil in nature as the security officials are in a mood of harassing people. SSP security, Shamsher Hussain has ordered the security guards not to allow people to enter the secretariat before 1pm.

People are made to stand outside the entrance of secretariat till 1 PM and after the mentioned time, they are allowed to enter the secretariat to fulfill their official needs.

People say government is no more sincere towards their miseries and hardships. A group of people standing near the entrance of civil secretariat said that they are not happy with the working of government.

“Our issues are not being addressed by the ministers. No one is satisfied with the working of officials in secretariat. Our files are not seen by the concerned officials and we are foolishly made to come and wait on the gates of secretariat everyday,” a group of people alleged.

When contacted SSP Security, he said, “We have lot of official work to do and we cannot address the people full day and refused to talk further on the issue”.

MLAs are also not satisfied with the functioning of government because most of the MLAs are being taken for granted.

“How can a government work smoothly when there are conflicts within the party,” said an MLA.

Miseries unaddressed

During his campaigning, Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu had promised of water supply schemes and construction of grid-stations and now the minister hardly comes to address people.

Earlier, the minister as a part of his manipulative election campaigns used to visit the poor sections of society. He would give hugs and make promises of development which made him to win the elections.

During the recent assembly sessions Haseeb Drabu was less visible and people wonder when the fanciful dreams of prosperity are going to be translated. Being a public representative people question Drabu’s absence and his failure to come in front of the people.

Few ministers seem to be very well acquainted of their in competencies. Senior PDP leader Altaf Bukhari admitting his failure said that ”Mai Abhi Tak Naa Kam Raha Hun Aur Mai Apni Naakami Manta Hun” till now I have failed and I accept my failure, he told in a radio interview program.

If ministers themselves are aware of their failure then on what bases are they running the government.
