Delhi, Apr 20 : Ghulam Ahmed Mir-President J&K PCC met Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Vice President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi todaymorning and discussed latest political and organizational affairs of Jammu and Kashmir.
J&K PCC Chief along with the team of newly appointed office bearers, Legislators and Heads of Frontal Organizations are in Delhi in connection with Maha Kissan Rally held at Ram Leela Ground, Yesterday
had separate meetings with Congress leadership today.
In a statement to TKS earlier Mir held one to one meeting with Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and briefed about the organizational affairs and activities of the party after he (Mir) took over as PCC President. This was the first meeting of Mir after his appointment as President J&K PCC. The two leaders also discussed latest political scenario in J&K and other related matters. He congratulated the leadership for grand success of Maha Kissan Rally and also apprised him about the hardships and difficulties faced by the farmers in J&K, following loss of crops in the recent rains. Gandhi asked Mir to strengthen the party at the grass root level.
Later the large delegation comprises of Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, Legislators and other senior leaders including frontal organizations heads had meeting with AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul
Gandhi at 10-Janpat besides General Secretary AICC Incharge J&K Ambika Soni and Leader of Opposition in Rajaya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, at his residence and Azad hoisted a high tea at his residence. JKPCC leaders briefed the central leadership about over all scenarios in the State and the activities of the party in the recent days to highlight the issues of public importance in an effective manner both inside and outside of the State Legislature. They briefed the leadership about the efforts to galvanise and strengthen the party at the grass root level by gearing up activities besides launching of membership drive.
The delegation expressed gratitude to Central leadership for organizing Maha Kissan Rally to lodge protest against the unti-farmer policies of the Modi led government at the centre. The Central leadership also took stock of the current situation and problems of people of different regions and sections of the society and the efforts of State Units to effectively raise voice of people.
