58th NATIONAL POLICE DAY OBSERVED AT DPL RAJOURI ; SIMILAR FUNCTIONS HELD AT THANAMANDI, MANJAKOTE & PEERI

RAJOURI OCTOBER 21:The District Police Rajouri today observed the 58th National Police Day popularly known as Police Commemoration Day here at District Police Lines Rajouri in remembrance of the brave police personals who sacrificed their lives in safeguarding the sovereignty and territory of the India.


Present on the occasion were Chairman for the Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Legislators Qammar Hussain, Ravinder Raina and Vibdoh Gupta, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Deepak Slathia, SSP Yougal Manhas, Addl. SP Mohd Yousuf, Adl SP Nowshera, Master Pops, SDPOs & SHOs, the family members of the martyred police personals and respectable citizens of Rajouri town.

Rich tributes were paid to all the martyrs of the police across the country. Mr. Slathia & the SSP also read out the names of these martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during the last one year. Rich tributes were also paid to the Police Martyr especially those from Rajouri.

The legislators while underlining the role of Jammu & Kashmir Police and Security Forces in gradual restoration of normalcy in the state and combating terrorism also paid respect and tributes to those police personals who attained martyrdom.

On the occasion, interactions were also held with the family members of such policemen and they were honored by the district police.

A blood donation camp was also organized at DPL Rajouri in which Asstt. Comdt. CRPF 72 Bn Prince Bhatdwaj and 11 other Police and CRPF volunteers donated blood. One youth leader Mr Tazeem Dar also donated blood in said blood donation camp. Total 13 points blood was donated in this camp.

*At Thanamandi* :

A Thanamandi a function in remembrance of Police Martyrs namely SI Farooq Hussain, ASI mohd Din, SPO Abdul Majeed, L/SPO salima @ Khalida Parveen, SPO safdar Hussain and SPO Tufail Hussain was held at government HSS Thanamandi, in which Students of the School, teaching staff, SDM Thanamandi, SDPO Thanamandi, SHO Thanamandi and families of Police Martyrs and respectable of locality were present. On the occasion SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas was Chief Guest.
Tributes were also paid to Police martyrs. Later on SSP Rajouri encouraged the speakers with cash reward of Rs 1100 each to 12 students, who highlighted the sacrifice of Police Martyrs.

*At Kakora, Manjakote* :

A similar type of function was held at Govt HSS kakora, in remembrance of Police Martyr namely HC Abdul Rashid, Sgct Lal Hussain, CT Arshad Mahmood and CT Mohd Yousaf. Adl SP Rajouri Mohd Yousaf was Chief Guest at the occasion. The function was attended by Tehsildar Manjakote Mahmood Khan, SDPO Manjakote Dr Imtyaz Choudhary, SHO Manjakote, the school staff and students. Respectable of the locality and families of Police Martyr’s were present at the occasion to pay rich tributes to the martyrs. One the occasion Adl SP Rajouri and Tehsildar Manjakote highlighted the sacrifice rendered by these Martyrs in the line of their duty. Seven students of Govt HSS Kakora also highlighted the role of martyts and all the speaker students were encouraged with cash prizes of Rs 1100 to each speaker.

*At Peeri* :
A similar function was held at Govt HSS Peeri, in remembrance of Police Martyr namely HC Noor Hussain and HC Gulzar Hussain. Dy SP Ops Rajouri, Sukhdev was Chief Guest, Students, School Staff, Families of Martys and respectable of area were present at the occasion to pay rich tributes to Martys.on the occasion four students who highlighted the role and sacrifice of martyrs were encouraged with Rs,. 1100 to each.

Pertinently, on October 21, 1959, ten police personals got martyred in an attack by the Chinese troops on Indo-China border in Ladhak region. On November 28, 1959, the Chinese troops handed over the mortal remains of these martyred policemen to India. Their cremation was held with full police honors at Hot springs in Ladhak. Since then the National Police Day is observed every year to commemorate the sacrifices of policemen.
