27800 masks Distributed; Red Zones Fumigated in Kupwara

 

KUPWARA, APRIL 14: District Administration, Kupwara is making concerted efforts to contain the deadly virus, COVID-19 in the district. As many as 07 villages namely Drugmulla, Manigah ,Trehgam, Baghbella, Gomal , Dildar and ITI Handwara have been declared Red zones so far and all the entry and exit points have been sealed completely.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg, concerned field functionaries have fumigated extensively all the Red Zone Areas of the district to prevent further spread of the deadly disease.

Around 27800 masks have been distributed among the residents of the Red Zone Areas through Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, so far. The process of manufacturing and distribution of masks is going on and the District Panchayat Officer has been designated to acquire masks locally, to cater the needs of the public.

Nodal Officer for Red Zone Areas, Dr. Rafiq Ahmad, informed that Protection Chambers have been deputed to Drugmulla for sample collection, which will also be mobilized to other RZAs for sample collection purpose. He further informed that ITI Handawar (RZA) has been fumigated both by Municipal Committee Handwara and District Administration to contain the spread of the virus.

To ensure home delivery of essentials to the people in RZAs, the Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies has framed a schedule so that all the inhabitants of these areas are supplied essentials as per their requirement. Accordingly, groceries, vegetables and ration is being supplied on every Saturday while LGP on every Wednesday. The CAPD vehicles and staff entering the Red zone Areas are being fumigated both at the time of entrance and while exiting RZAs.

On the directions of Chief Medical Officer, Mobile Medical Teams have been formulated to provide treatment to the patients of the Red Zone Areas at their doorsteps to restrict their movement to non red zone areas. The concerned Aasha worker is helping the Medical Team in mobilizing its door to door healthcare service.

Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Tangdar has set up Administrative Quarantince Centre at Geology and Mining Complex, Hajinard, to facilitate the quarantine of the people who have a travel history. The SDM informed that ration and other essential commodities are being delivered at the doorsteps of the people in Red zone areas to avoid public gathering.

The SDM has appealed the people to follow the restrictions and stay indoors for their safety and security.
