SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 12: National Lok Adalat for Criminal Compoundable Cases was held today across the State. 2512 cases were disposed off in the NLA and an amount of Rs 730210 was settled which includes maintenance awarded and compound money realized.
According to a statement issued by, Mr R N Wattal, Member Secretary J&K State Legal Services authority, Lok Adalats were convened at High Court and at the District and Tehsil level under the patronage of Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, J&K High Court and Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority, and under the guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge, J&K High Court and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
Meanwhile, 773 cases were taken up out of which 529 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 209600 was realized as fine in the NLA convened at District Legal Services Authority Srinagar under the Chairmanship of Mr Rasheed Ali Dar, Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar at District Court Complex Sanat Ghar Bemina Srinagar.
Four benches were constituted to settle the cases. 1st bench was presided over by PT&E, Magistrate and 1st Additional Munsiff Srinagar, 2nd Bench was presided over by 2nd Additional Munsiff Srinagar and 3rd Additional Munsiff Srinagar, 3rd Bench was presided over by Additional Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Srinagar and sub-Registrar Srinagar, 4th bench was presided over by Additional Special Mobile Magistrate (TFC) Panthachowk Srinagar.
A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of district and sessions Judge Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Malik at Mediation Centre Bandipora. As many as 85 criminal compoundable cases (pending and pre-litigation matters) were taken up, out of which 29 cases were settled on the spot. A compound amount of Rs 2750 was realized and remitted into government treasury. This one bench lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority Bandipora and was attended by Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora, V S Manhas, Munsiff Bandipora, Noor Mohammad Mir besides other litigants.
Meanwhile, DLSA Kupwara also held Lok Adalats in different parts of the district. A total of 416 cases were settled and amount of Rs 108250 was also realized.
At Anantnag, National Lok Adalat was held at District and Subordinate Courts under the supervision of Mr. Jawad Ahmad, Principal District and Session Judge (Chairman District Legal Services Authority) Anantnag. In the said National Lok Adalat pending 265 cases were taken up out of which 162 cases were amicably settled and settlement amount of Rs 18100 realized.
