Srinagar, May 16(KNB): Former Minister and Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party Leader Usman Majid has written a letter to Lt Governor G C Murmu, seeking the revocation of SRO 202 policy to safeguard the future of educated youth.
Usman Majid posted a strong missive on Social media regarding the issue of recruitment policy under SRO 202 appealing Lt governor to get the rules appropriately amended so that the employees working on probationary period won’t face such discrimination.
The letter read as, “with best regards and humble submission I’m writing this letter that as per the new recruitment policy SRO 202 a candidate is appointed as a probationer for five years after which his or her services will be declared permanent and will be entitled to full salary.”
“In a response to this policy unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir organized series of protests. They were demanding that this flawed policy must be revoked as earlier as possible because it violates the common minimum wage rules and this hurts the dignity of the educated youth,” the letter reads.
It further added, “Such a policy is sheer injustice to the highly qualified youth of Kashmir. How can they run their families and how can they manage their livelihood? The new policy has created frustration and anger among the youth. It is therefore requested that you may kindly consider the issue favorably and make all the arrangements for the revocation of above said policy.”
Pertinently, SRO-202 which was brought in when late Mufti Mohammad Syed was the chief minister of the erstwhile state, states that the new entrants in the government departments will have to stay under probation for initial 5 years before being comfirmed as permanent employees, the rule that received a huge backlash from almost all the quarters.
Besides, as per the SRO-202, the new government employees will not be granted allowances like House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance (TA) etc given to the all other employees as per the service rules.(KNB)
