Three CRPF personnel, Civilian Killed in Handwara attack

Srinagar, May 4 (KNB): Three Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) were killed in a brief encounter on Monday in Northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The incident took place at Wangam area of Qaziabad Handwara when suspected militants attacked 92 bn CRPF (A Coy) party killiing 2 CRPF men on spot while two others suffered injuries and were shifted to hospital where one among them succumbed on the way.

Soon after the guns fell silent after the exchange of fire for around five minutes between the paramilitary troopers and the millitants, one more body was spotted near the shootout site and investigations have been launched to ascertain whether the body is that of a civilian or someone else.

Additional general of army, SOG and CRPF rushed immediately to the site of attack and launched a massive search operation to trace out the fleeing militants.

Another case of grenade attack occurred today in the Nowgam area in central Kashmir’s Sringar district, when the millitants lodged a grenade towards  the Power Grid station manned by the CISF personnel in Wagoora, where a Central Industrail Security Forces (CISF) personnal recieved minor splinter injuries in the  incident.

Meanwhile, one more CISF personnel
recieved injuries in an attack by suspected militants in Wagoora Nowgam area of Budgam, central Kashmir.

Pertinently, five government forces’ personnel, including a Colonel and a Major, and two militants were also killed yesterday in Handwara encounter. (KNB)
