Internet being the windpipe of people in the world is again in stories not because of some new features but because of the 72-hour ban imposed on it across Kashmir valley.
Kashmir being the bone of contention between India and Pakistan is going to celebrate Eid just like the Independence day of India. People have nothing to do on Eid except greeting and inviting them through social media., but when it is banned, how bad a person will feel.
“People usually greet one another on Eid using social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter but this Eid is going to be just like the Independence day because of ban on internet connectivity .we have nothing to do but to sit at our home and get bored,” said sahil.
This Eid people have to spend their eidee (money we get on Eid as a token) on mobile recharges as the message texting option is soon going to get blocked.
”We have to greet all our relatives and friends on Eid and it is not possible to make a phone call to all of them. Putting ban over internet service is not a good idea at all,” said Sameer.
Sources told Kashmir Scenario that the issue of putting ban on internet services was decided during the security review meeting headed by the Director General of police K. Rajendra on Monday.
People are very much troubled about the ban on internet as they have access to their relatives outside Kashmir only through social media.
During the meeting , the use of social media during Eid celebrations was discussed and it was agreed that pictures and videos of slaughtering of cows uploaded on internet may create law and order problem in the valley.
”The uploaded photos and videos would lead to inevitable circumstances in the valley So we have decided to clamp down internet so as to maintain law and order”, media reports quoted a senior J&K Police officer.
