Srinagar, Oct 27 (KNS): With assembly elections round the corner, opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called an important meeting of political affairs committee where the senior leaders will deliberate and finalize poll strategy of the party.
Sources told KNS that the meeting will be held on Friday (October 31) at party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s Fairview residence at Gupkar. “During the meeting the party will finalize the mandates for the constituency where candidates haven’t been finalized yet. Strategy for the polls and overall political situation in the state will be discussed threadbare in the meeting,” they said.
The meeting will be presided over by Mufti Sayeed and attended by party president Mehbooba Mufti, MPs Muzafar Hussain Beig and Tariq Hameed Karra, senior leaders Dilawar Mir, Nayeem Akhtar Abdul Rehman Veeri, Dr Sameer Kaul, Altaf Bukhari, Trilok Singh Bajwa, Rangeel Singh, Yashpal Sharma and Haseeb Drabu.
“The meeting assumes significance as first phase of assembly elections in the state is less than a month away. The party wants to consolidate its good showing of Parliament polls in the coming elections,” sources said.
The PDP chief spokesman Nayeem Akhtar confirmed to KNS that the meeting is scheduled for October 31.
