A class nine student from Damanjodi in Koraput district, in Odisha, Lalita Prasida Sripada Srisai won the ‘Community Impact Award’ at the prestigious Google Science Fair in California.
Setting an example for the young student community, Lalita from Delhi Public School, Damanjodi has developed a project that has the power to help practically in environmental and health challenges faced by the community.
Her cost effective technique involves the immobilization of Industrial sewer and domestic contaminants including toxins in ponds, reservoirs and water tanks.

In her project, ‘Low Cost Bio-Adsorbent’ she proves that the corn cobs could clean water up to 80 percent, they being suitable adsorbents with high mechanical strength.
Aimed at helping the poor sections of Odisha, who still don’t have access to pure water, she believes that her project if brought to work will be of great help.
The 13-year old girl has brought laurels to India in international arena.
