Srinagar, June16(KNB): Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Junaid Azim mattu has been removed from his post on Tuesday after a majority of corporators passed a no-confidence motion against him.

Pertinently, an application seeking removal of the  mayor was signed by 41 corporators headed by Wahid Ahmad Dar, counsellor of Ward 72 Zukura.

Talking to media persons, former Deputy Mayor, Sheikh Imran said, “Earlier, when no confidence motion was passed against me I was a detainee which was a complete injustice for me. Now, No confidence motion was passed by Corporators headed by Wahid Ahmad Dar against the Mayor and we succeeded it completely as an independent Corporators and have shown all the scams of SMC.”

Talking about the new face of Mayor Sheikh said, “The decision will be taken by the group of Corporators keeping in view all the previous scams which had happened since past one and half year and now our focus will be on development of city.”

I was also in support with Mayor, but after a lot of scams were witnessed from last one year, as in construction and even in pandemic also. So, thinking about the development of city, it was necessary to remove such faces.”(KNB)
