Sopore 5 April(KNB):An enormous fire has engulfed the forest area of Compartment No 23 of Zaloora Village in Harwan Block Kandi Sopore. While the fire continues to spread in the forest area, fire fighting operations are underway.
Sources told Kashmir News Bureau Correspondent that the fire has caused significant loss to the green belt, adding that the fire department has not been able to reach there due to hilly area to get the fire under control.
According to locals, the fire broke out suddenly this evening and was not brought under control yet.
However, this is the first time that a massive fire has broke out in the forest of this area, which connects Sopore and Kupwara range.
DFO Kamraj Division Mr Zahid Mughal while talking to Kashmir News Bureau told that we have deployed a team of fire watchers and our staff is also at work to douse the flames and very soon the fire will be brought under control.
