LAWDA acting on multiple fronts efficiently

Srinagar, June 10(KNB): Lakes and Waterways Development Authority LAWDA under the leadership of vibrant Tufail Mattoo is working on multiple fronts to set things in right order,

During the pandemic Coronavirus, braving all odds, massive de – weeding, dredging has been held at Dal and Nageen Lakes by LAWDA,
being done in 34 sections along the 16km stretch from Dalgate to Nageen upto 60 mts from the lake periphery.

Beyond 60 mts from periphery of the lake de-weeding by machines is also being conducted, Target of about 75000 cums (cubic meters) of weed removal has to be achieved manually upto November this year, LAWDA revealed.

So for a total of 4030 numbers of manpower has been utilised since mid May 2020.

Moreover, the removal of lily pads on five sections spread over an area 1.34 Sq km from front side of Doledemb has been started , besides the new de-weeding machines are to be launched soon.

Pertinently, a Demolition drive at Lashkari Mohalla, Koshipora Teilbal & Hyderya Colony Shalimar were launched by LAWDA in which 3 illegal structures were demolished.

In the month of April too,
a massive demolition drive was launched by the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority under the supervision of Enforcement Officer in the area of Wangund Teilbal, Chandpora Harwan, Nishat Syed Colony, Lashkari Mohalla and Laam Braine in which 07 illegal constructions/structures were demolished including 04 double storey houses, one single storey, one concrete block and one shop which were raised to ground.

Braving all challenges and hostile environment LAWDA teams have been successful in raising illegal structures.

It is learnt that some negative elements who had amassed illegal structures and found them demolished by LAWDA are Resorting to lies on Social Media, but LAWDA is determined to weed out the menace of illegal structures in Kashmir.

Masses are hailing the overall exuberance displayed by LAWDA VC Tufail Mattoo in ensuring that Department makes strides forward.
