Urges officials to put best efforts to improve medical facilities in hospitals
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 12-Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today asked the heads of Government Medical College and its associated hospitals to chalk out effective strategies to provide enhanced and timely services to the people.
The Minister said was reviewing the functioning of Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu and its Associate Hospitals here at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari, Principal Medical College, Dr. Ghanshyam Dev Gupta, Director Health Services Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Mission Director NHM Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Administrator GMC Mrs. Babila Rakhwal and Heads of Departments of Anatomy, Anaesthesia, Blood Trans. Medicine, Biochemistry, Cardiology, Chest Diseases and Tuberculosis, E.N.T Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Mediciene, Orthopaedics, Obstructs and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Radiotherapy, Paediatrics, Pathalogy, Physiology, Pharamacology, P &SM, Radio Diagnosis and Imaging, Urology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neuro-Surgeory, Cardiology, CTVS, Carddiac Anaesthesia and Gastroenterology.
The Minister asked them to provide quality and hassle free services to the people for which he asked them to augment all material and human resources. He directed the Principal GMC to ensure that all the diagnostic equipments like MRI, USG, X-Ray, CT Scan etc function round the clock for convenience of the patients.
Choudhary Lal Singh directed the officers to put in their best efforts for the improvement of medical facilities in the hospitals. He emphasized upon them to treat the patients in their respective hospitals and avoid referrals.
He asked them to prepare daily inventory of the referral cases from periphery hospitals to GMC and its Associated Hospitals adding that this would help in identifying and removing the deficiencies in District Hospitals, Sub-District Hospitals, Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres. “The data collected would help to upgrade these hospitals at par with the premier hospitals and avoid rush in GMC” he said.
The Minister informed that vacant posts of Professors, Associate/Assistant Professors, Lecturers, Registrars, Surgeons, Assistant Surgeons and para medics would be shortly filled up through recruitment agencies so that the patient care at GMC does not suffer.
Choudhary Lal Singh underlined the need to start evening OPDs in order to provide additional facility to the ailing people. He also enjoined upon them to strengthen Emergency Ward by making availability of additional staff and other required facilities to further improve healthcare.
The Minister said that the infrastructure in GMC and its Associated hospitals would be developed as per the norms and guidelines of the Medical Council of India (MCI). He said that necessary measure would be initiated to strengthen the medical facilities at all levels.
For improving and adding more medicare facilities in the GMC and its Associated hospitals, HoDs of various departments put forth the requirements related to installation of latest equipments in the hospitals.
The Minister assured early decision in this regard adding that the government has laid focused thrust on the improvement so that the people are not forced to the go outside sate for advanced treatment .
Later, the Minister conducted on-spot inspection of Drugs Store of GMC and took stock of medicines, bedding and other facilities being provided to the patients by the hospital administration.
