J&K colleges to be shut down till July 5: State govt

Jammu and Kashmir colleges will remain closed till July 5, as per the state government.
Students all over the country are waiting for directives from the government regarding the reopening of educational institutes in their area. To ease the minds of college students in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to shut down all degree colleges in summer zones for a month. As per several media reports, the colleges will remain closed till July 5.

This decision was finalised by the Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department through an official order issued by Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary of Higher Education Department.

The official order issued by the secretary states, “All government degree colleges of the Union Territory of J&K (in summer zone) shall observe summer vacations with effect from June 5 to July 5.”
The Director Colleges in the UT’s Higher Education Department took this decision after consulting the students, parents and stakeholders at an institutional level. In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, everyone felt that the safest time to reopen colleges would be in July.(KNB)
