Srinagar, Feb 5 : With no respite from wet weather conditions in Kashmir with Met office predicting more snow, the government is yet to take a final call over whether to extend the winter break in Kashmir’s colleges which is ending on Monday.
Several college going students, hailing from far-off areas of Kashmir Valley on Sunday told KNS that their areas received massive snowfall since last week and it would not be possible for them to report to their respective colleges. However, the government seems to have forgotten the issue- deeming it unnecessary to extend the winter break in view of the present weather conditions.
“When no order has been issued, would that mean we have to report to our colleges on Monday amid this much of snow. The government has perhaps forgotten to extend its earlier order,” students said.
Pertinently, normal life was last thrown out of gear in Kashmir as snowfall continued intermittently, virtually cutting of the Valley from rest of the country due to closure of Srinagar—Jammu national highway and suspension of air traffic.
After repeated attempts, the concerned authorities weren’t available for the comment. (KNS)
