Floor Test: Congress decides not to participate in Voting Process

 

Srinagar, June 15(KNB): In a major development, Congress party has decided and directed corporators not to vote against no motion confidence going to be held on June 16th 2020.

Sources told Kashmir News Bureau that Congress senior leader G A Mir in a mail sent to Srinagar municipal corporation has revealed that “Corporators from congress is not going to participate in the voting process of no confidence motion,” and said “Any breach of this absolute whip shall entail disqualification in terms of section 34 A “b” of J&K Municipal Corporation Act of 2000.”

Sources also revealed to news agency Kashmir News Bureau that the National conference also likely decided not to participate in the voting process.

Meanwhile, Ab Wahid Dar, counsellor of Ward 72 Zukura who had claimed Forty-three Corporators of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) taking part in in the no Confidence Motion against SMC Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu said, “The main motive of this No Confidence Motion is to expel Mayor Junaid Azim Matoo, as only corruption was being witnessed and development was far away. Since last year, illegal construction was being witnessed at its peak and not a single rule was followed.”

He further added, ” Earlier, a motion was issued but unfortunately the move went against deputy Mayor, and now we again issued No confidence motion along with Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran and soon we will free the whole department from this corruption.”

On Friday, SMC Commissioner Gazanfar Ali has written to DC Srinagar for allowing the assembly of corporator for floor test which was granted and said “We are going to do floor test on Tuesday as we have received the permission from Deputy Commissioner Srinagar with proper social distancing.

In December last year, Junaid Matoo had defeated a similar attempt by a group of corporators to vote him out of position.(KNB)
