MLA Langate and President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) Er Rasheed has strongly condemned sate police for using photograph of Mr Irfan Ah Shah R/O Bumhama Kupwara and claiming it to be the photograph of the accused militant on whose head police had fixed an award of Rs.10 lac.
In a statement issued today Er Rasheed said that DG police should seek unconditional apology from Mr Irfan and must also compensate for the damages caused to his image due to the incident. Er Rashid said. “Why should not top police brasses who so ever are involved in this state managed drama be sacked? It is not only question of causing embarrassment to Mr Irfan but also ample evidence to prove that police has lost its credibility and why should somebody believe on day to day claims being made by police especially with reference to militancy related incidents.”
Er Rashid demanded that besides those who have approved publishing of the photograph of Mr Irfan SP Kupwara should also be taken to task for keeping Mr Irfan along with other respectable persons at police station Kupwara for the whole day. It is worth to mention that Mr Irfan along with respectable persons of his village had approached SP Kupwara to tell the facts and rather apologising Mr Irfan said SSP made him to wait for the whole day at his office with full humiliation.
Er Rashid appealed CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take quick and stern action against all those involved in this heinous crime and added that possibility of a fake encounter to kill Irfan could not have been ruled out, had he had not presented himself before the police and police officials would have felt no shame in grabbing the so called award of Rs 10 lacs.
