Srinagar : Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi , the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW was celebrated with great fervour and special prayers were offered in mosques and shrines on the ocassion across Kashmir Valley.Hazratbal Shrine and many other Shrines of valley were decorated and illuminated with florescent lights while special religious flags were hoisted a top some buildings and vehicles to mark the occasion.
The largest congregation was held at Hazratbal Shrine, which houses the Holy relic (a hair strand) of Prophet, on the banks of Dal Lake as thousands offered prayers. More than 30,000 devotees offered afternoon prayers at the Hazratbal Shrine as part of the celebration of the Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
The devotees had a glimpse of the Holy relic after every prayer as its custodian put it on display
The state government had made special arrangements including transportation, uninterrupted electricity supply at Hazratbal, besides safe drinking water and mobile medical camps.
Reports of celebrations were received from other parts of the Valley also. Milad processions were taken out in other places of the Valley.
