Dilapidated Roads In Kulgam Village Make Residents Suffer

Kulgam June 10(KNB): Commuters are having a tough time due to the dilapidated condition of DK Marg road in Kulgam district as it is full of potholes and pose a threat to their lives, especially in the evening hours.

The residents of Nowgam,Dk Marg, Chemmer alleged that despite assurance by the concerned authorities they have to face immense hardships as the road is dotted with big potholes and ditches, making walking and driving an ordeal especially for the children, pregnant women and elders during all sessions.

They further alleged that the potholes have lead to many accidents on the narrow road, and despite repeated complaints, officials do not pay heed to the problem as nothing has been done on the ground to repair the roads.

One of the resident while talking to Kashmir News Bureau on phone said, “This road is in a dilapidated condition and should be repaired on a priority basis as lives are very precious. Nothing has been done in the past 4 years, now it is time to repair this road at a rapid pace to save human lives.”

Another local resident said, “This road need to be repaired very soon so as to avoid any untoward incident as many accidents have taken place on this road from last few months due to the poor condition of the road.”

“There are various places where roads have been repaired and built but unfortunately this road has been ignored despite many promises and assurances by the concerned department,” he further said.
